Dr Courtney Barnes, post-doctoral researcher at the University of Newcastle, Australia, discusses her recently published systematic review. My research focuses on the implementation of evidence-based policies, practices and programmes within community-based settings. My systematic review examined strategies for improving the implementation of school‐based policies, practices, or programmes to address child diet, physical activity, or obesity. There was some evidence to support enhancing the nutritional quality of foods served at schools, implementation of canteen nutrition policies, improvements in the time scheduled for physical education, and the quality of physical education lessons.

Emma Doble, PhD student at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and patient editor at the BMJ, describes her blog contributions. As part of my role as consumer coordinator, I have been working on a project entitled ‘Cochrane UK Consumer Champions’. This has involved recruiting and supporting consumers who are new to Cochrane. As part of this work, we wrote a two-part blog about our experience of living with, or supporting someone with, a long-term condition (LTC). In the first blog, we shared how we have managed during the pandemic and in the second blog, we discussed how we make treatment decisions and what we want health professionals to know about living with a LTC.
