ECP Network News and Announcements

Welcoming a New ECPN Steering Group Member!

On behalf of the Cochrane Early Career Professionals' community, we would like to welcome our new steering group member: Daniel González Padilla.

Daniel is a medical doctor who has joined the ECPN steering group as the new newsletter coordinator. He graduated from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico and completed his residency in Urology at the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid. He currently works at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Madrid and is interested in evidence-based medicine (EBM) and critical reading. Daniel's current research work focuses on bladder and prostate cancer, analysis of the state of EBM training among urology residents, and the adherence to the GRADE methodology in European urology guidelines. He has taught EBM in Mexico, has collaborated on Cochrane systematic reviews, and is the co-founder of an online Journal Club in urology (available on Twitter via the hashtag #UrologyJournalClub).

Congratulations, Daniel! We are very delighted to have you on board, and we are very pleased to be joined by new members who always bring new ideas and energy to this community.

Journal Club 2: Rehabilitation Research Methodology

Our second English Journal Club of 2022 was held on Thursday 28th April 2022 and was focused on physiotherapy related topics. We hosted two speakers. The first speaker was Dr. Chiara Arienti, the coordinator of Cochrane Rehabilitation, who spoke on the methodological issues of rehabilitation research. The second speaker was Prof. Pierre Côté, professor of the Ontario Tech University, who made ‘Reflections on the Development and Quality of Clinical Practice Guidelines for LBP’. The Journal club was an interesting discussion over the problem of the rehabilitation research world, and raised interesting issues.

The video of the event is available on YouTube at the following link. For any information or to have access to the presented material we invite you to write to our steering group member, Joel Pollet, who was also the moderator.
