1. EMS Community Liaison: August update
The EM Knowledge Base now includes screencasts: Introduction to Editorial Manager, Transferring titles to Editorial Manager, Editorial checks, Initiating discussions, Inviting peer reviewers, Inviting Editors to comment, and Viewing and emailing peer review comments to authors. These are embedded within their respective sections and available on their own Cochrane Training page. Our colleague Sue Marcus from Cochrane Dementia and Cognitive Improvement shared an email that was sent to authors letting them know about the transition to Editorial Manager. We thought the email was quite helpful and think some of you may also find it useful. Sue has been very generous and gave us permission to share the email, please find it here. Special thank you to Sue! The fortnightly and weekly (depending on your time zones) drop-in and Q&A sessions continue, if you haven't already signed up you can download the calendar invitations here. As a reminder, here are the key resources you will need to support the move to EM.

Top Tips: 1. To help edit emails in Editorial Manager, you can use the little 4-arrow icon in the top right corner of the letter ribbon (outlined in red below) to expand the email body.
2. Use the 'User Role' drop down menu in the search page to pull up multiple results. This can be especially helpful to search peer reviewers.

2. Convey for conflict of interest declarations

Cochrane is using Convey, a declaration of interest management system provided by the American Association of Medical Colleges, to collect declarations of interest for reviews in Editorial Manager. The integration of Convey with Editorial Manager is a new development, and there have been a few teething problems. This is a quick update on the current known issues, timelines and temporary workarounds: - Authors added post-submission do not receive automatic notifications from Convey
- Some corresponding authors do not include correct details for their full author team on submission. If you spot this early on, you can use the Action 'Send Back to Author' to return the submission to the corresponding author and ask for full co-author details to be included. Alternatively, you can 'Edit Submission' to add additional authors. A current bug means that co-authors added after submission will not receive automatic notifications from Convey. If you do add authors, please contact Support and we can ensure that the notifications are triggered manually. We do not currently have a fix date for this but will keep you updated.
- Corresponding authors cannot view co-author DOIs in EM
- Some CRGs ask the corresponding author to draft the DOI statement for the review based on their co-authors' DOI forms. A current bug means that these are not visible to corresponding authors in EM. If you have a corresponding author who needs access, please contact Support and we can look at alternative secure means to share this information. This bug is set to be fixed on 1 September. We will confirm when this is done.
- Review title to be added to author notifications from Convey in place of global manuscript ID
- Currently, emails to authors from Convey reference the global manuscript ID number rather than the review title, which can cause confusion. Authors are advised in the email to contact Support if they need clarification on the review to which their disclosure relates. We have requested that the review title be included in author emails. This change is set to be made on 29 September. We will confirm when this is done.
A reminder that the Research Integrity Team recently held training on using Convey. The recording and slides are available. To preview the author form in Convey, view slides 12-21. Full guidance for MEs on using Convey is also available. Please contact Support if you have any queries.

3. Registration of Methodology Reviews
We have updated the Editorial and Publishing Policies Resource to confirm that Cochrane Methodology Reviews should only be registered with the Methodology Review Group. The ‘Methodology Review type’ has been removed from all Editorial Manager Network sites, apart from the Cochrane Public Health and Health Systems Editorial Manager site, which the Methodology Review Group is part of, and the Central Editorial Service site.
If a CRG from the Cochrane Public Health and Health Systems Network receives a Methodology Review title registration or proposal, or any CRG is interested in co-registering a title with the Methodology Review Group, please contact the Methodology Review Group.

4. Cochrane UK and Cochrane Ireland Symposium 2022 - survey
As you may be aware, Cochrane UK and Cochrane Ireland are planning the next annual symposium, due to take place in April 2022. This will be a hybrid event where people can attend in person, or view some sessions online. They would appreciate your help by completing the following survey so that they can adapt the format/content of the event to your needs: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2GGC2PB. The survey should only take 5 minutes, and the responses will be anonymous. The deadline to complete the survey is the 30th September 2021. If you have any questions, please email: general@cochrane.nhs.uk
