1. Reviews in Archie and Editorial Manager
Following the archiving of Archie workflows and the end of publication from Archie, all editorial processing tasks should now be completed in Editorial Manager. All reviews are now set to be managed in Editorial Manager - you will see on the Review Properties that the EMS field on the General tab has 'Editorial Manager' selected. This means that you no longer need to notify Cochrane Support before inviting authors to submit. You may not yet have invited authors to submit all active content (protocols, reviews and updates where authors are working) to EM. There is no fixed deadline for doing this. You can create Proposals (invitations) in EM at any time, with a submission date of your choice - either in advance or as and when authors are ready to submit. EM is designed to manage only content that is active, and will never contain your full list of reviews in Archie. You do not need to transfer titles where you are not certain authors will submit. If you have any queries, please contact Cochrane Support.

2. Practice tasks on the Editorial Manager training site
Don't forget we have a dedicated Editorial Manager training site where you can complete our recommended practice tasks if you are getting to know the journey of a submission to EM. You can also practise any element of the submission workflow, such as sending submissions for copy edit and publication. All author and editor email addresses have been converted to trash/dummy addresses on the training site, so you can practise without worrying about sending unwanted notifications. Please do not enter any genuine email addresses when creating Proposals (invitations) or when submitting.

3. Withdrawal policy: policy for protocols
The policy and process for withdrawals of Cochrane Reviews and protocols are currently being revised to accommodate organisational changes and to move towards redefining withdrawn reviews as ‘retractions’. The policy for protocols will also change. For time being please do not withdraw any protocols for reasons other than serious error. If you do wish to withdraw a protocol for any reason, or if you have any questions about this, please contact emd@cochrane.org.

4. Risk of Bias 2 judgement tables: copy editing
For any Cochrane Reviews using RoB 2, the contents of the tables of judgements are not currently being copy edited during the production process. We will reassess this in future, as our software and processes evolve. The content and format of these tables makes them particularly challenging for a copy editor to work through in RevMan Web, so that time and effort is better spent on the main text of the review, where readers have higher expectations. The RoB 2 judgement details are important, but they are to some degree subsidiary to the main text. Authors and editors should apply the same level of care with the text in RoB 2 tables as for any other content in a review, and table content should be considered when the review is signed off before production. Any concerns or questions, please contact John Hilton (jhilton@cochrane.org).

5. Reviews not indexed on PubMed and PubMed Central: update
As you may be aware, some Cochrane Reviews are not currently available from PubMed and PubMed Central. Our publisher Wiley has been working with the National Library of Medicine to resubmit Cochrane Reviews and to investigate the reasons for processes not working as expected. Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure all Cochrane Reviews are available from PubMed and all open access Cochrane reviews are available from PubMed Central. We believe all the missing reviews have now been identified, and most have now been restored. The remainder are in the process of being fixed. More details will be shared via email. If there are any specific examples that are causing concern please contact John Hilton (jhilton@cochrane.org).

6. Supporting dissemination of high profile reviews
Happy New Year. A quick note from the communications people here in the CET to ask you to get in touch if you have high profile reviews publishing this year – they could be of broad interest or attract some controversy for example. Cochrane CET remains committed to supporting your dissemination efforts, with our focus on high profile reviews. We are keen to keep note of what is coming up in our comms calendar - so we can support publication when we can. The people to be in touch with are Katie (kabbotts@cochrane.org) and Muriah (mumoquit@cochrane.org). We find it really helpful to receive a completed dissemination brief which you can find here. These get discussed weekly on Tuesdays at 3 pm UK time at our content and dissemination meeting.

9. Vacancy on the Managing Editors' Executive
On behalf of the Managing Editors’ Executive (MEs’ Exec), we are inviting interested Managing Editors (MEs) or Assistant MEs to apply for a vacancy on the MEs’ Exec, primarily to cover Anna Erskine’s maternity leave but with the hope of continuing in post once Anna has returned. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Anna well! The MEs’ Exec is a group of Managing Editors who aim to facilitate communication and information flow to and from the MEs, Cochrane Governing Board, Cochrane Council and the Editor in Chief; to consult MEs on issues related to their role and functions within Cochrane; and to ensure that MEs are appropriately represented on committees and projects that affect the ME role. Please visit the MEs’ Exec pages on the Cochrane Community website for more information and the MEs’ Exec’s remit. Membership on the Exec requires, on average, one hour per week, which may be spread over the week and may occur outside regular working hours. We have teleconferences every 4 to 6 weeks and will hopefully meet face-to-face again when possible in the future. We discuss and take forward issues that have been raised by our fellow MEs and others in Cochrane. We also facilitate ME meetings at Colloquia and other Cochrane events and more recently, virtually. MEs or Assistant MEs in a full- or part-time position with a Cochrane Review Group, Centre or Field are eligible to apply. Where possible, we try to ensure our members represent a spread of CRG size and geographical location. If you are interested, please submit a short paragraph (up to 250 words) stating why you wish to join the MEs’ Executive and what skills, experience or qualities you will bring as a member, by Friday 4th February 2022, to either Frances Kellie (f.kellie@liverpool.ac.uk) or Lindsey Elstub (lindsey.elstub@newcastle.ac.uk), the ME Executives’ Co- Chairs.

a. Haematology We would like to welcome Claire Iannizzi as the new ME for Cochrane Haematology. Claire joined the Haematology team (based in Cologne) as research associate just over a year ago. Her academic background is in public health, healthcare policy and epidemiology. Claire is looking forward to her new role.

b. Urology In April 2021, Jennifer Mariano joined Urology as AME but has now taken over from Rob Lane as ME. Rob will stay on as AME for the group. Jenn is a multi-genre writer, editor, and nurse (mainly paediatrics), currently living in the Midwest region of the US (Indiana) with her family and poodle, Winston. Alongside learning her new role, Jenn is also working on her first book and just finished studying Narrative Medicine at Columbia University.

c. PaPaS We say farewell to Anna Erskine at the end of January as she heads off on maternity leave. An interim ME is currently being recruited and will join the team asap.

d. Goodbye Laura Laura Prescott is leaving her job as ME for Cochrane Skin at the end of January 2022. She started as an Editorial Assistant in 2009 and became ME in 2016. Many of you will have encountered her bubbly personality, kindness and love of memes, cakes and dogs. She is also incredibly hard working and collaborative, and her knowledge of all things Cochrane is immense. She will leave a huge gap in our group, but also in the ME community. We wish her well in her new editor role with a group of dermatology journals.
